About the Event

The SGC is pleased to organise this special dialogue with Mr Chan Chun Sing, Minister for Trade and Industry in commemoration of the SGC's 15th Anniversary. Minister Chan will speak on the topic '‘Seizing opportunities in a challenging global business environment’. He will make references to the EUSFTA, sustainability, innovation and several other topics which are relevant in today's volatile business environment.

About the Speaker

Mr Chan Chun Sing
Minister for Trade and Industry

Mr Chan Chun Sing is Minister for Trade and Industry, responsible for driving Singapore's economic and industrial development. He was appointed to this role and as Minister-in-charge of the Public Service from 1 May 2018. Mr Chan is also Deputy Chairman of the People's Association since 1 October 2015.

From 2016 to 2018, Minister Chan, then as Secretary General of the National Trades Union Congress, focused on expanding the Labour Movement network to represent all working people in Singapore. He also led efforts to curate and deliver timely and relevant training for workers. He was also Minister for Social and Family Development between 2013-2015 where he was tasked to improve the social service delivery, through enhancing social safety nets and strengthening support for families in Singapore. Minister Chan has also served with the Singapore Armed Forces for over 20 years, where he has served in key appointments, his last position being Chief of the Army (2010 to 2011).

The 3rd German-Singaporean Financial Forum (GSFF) organised by the German Embassy Singapore and the Singaporean-German Chamber of Industry and Commerce (SGC) will also take place on this day from 10.45 am - 1.45pm which includes the Networking Luncheon.
